2008 Winter Drill Team Practice
DRILL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT:
Teddy Holman reported that the RRR Competitive Drill Team has had 4
practices so far. One had to be cancelled due to weather. We have 11
women and 1 gentleman riding. Eight riders have qualified for the team
so far. We continue to get one or two new riders each week. March 1st is
the cut off for auditions this year. May is fast approaching which is
the team’s first competition in Washington. June 14th would be their
first Parade in Sisters. They are learning 3 different drills. They are
asking permission to host a Poker Ride June 7th as a major Fundraiser
for the Drill Team. It would take off from RRR, but would not be using
the arenas for riding. The Poker Ride would be a 12 mile ride on the
butte, starting from RRR. A chili lunch/dinner would be provided to the
riders afterwards; Terri Drago has volunteered to help out. (June 7th
was the CCC Finals, but has been moved to June 8th) Group understands
they need permits in advance for use of the BLM land. There were no
objections from the Board to pursue this idea; the Drill Team will
review the date and contact TJ and Roseann to finalize. No insurance
issues for this activity – it's off the RRR premises.
DRILL TEAM REQUIREMENTS:
Drill Team Riders must be from the age of 16 and up, and members of
RRR in good standing. All skill levels are welcome.
Competitions start in May!
